Abatement Contractor Change Orders
Contractors who bid on abatement projects and then discover that the survey reports are sub-standard need a top-quality consultant to correct the deficiencies and assist them with obtaining a change order. Just as importantly, they often also need that consultant to be able to explain the deficiencies to their customer, usually the owner. Masek Consulting Services, Inc. has extensive experience assisting with such situations.
For example, in 2012, we assisted the people working with renovation of Building 100, a hotel, on the March Air Reserve Base. A previous consultant, working for a giant company which failed to check his work, failed to properly examine the readily accessible attic and crawl space, resulting in a $250,000 change order and months of delay. In 2013, we assisted with the demolition of the former exchange building at the 29 Palms Marine base, identifying an additional $125,000 of abatement work needed to remove the materials missed by the deficient asbestos & lead survey.
When contractors bid on projects surveyed by Masek Consulting Services, Inc. they may bid confidently, knowing that they and they competitors will not have to deal with change orders for materials missed by Masek Consulting Services, Inc.
